Our Contributions to Those in Need
Food Drive at Brawerman
On February 18, Talia Zipkin spoke at Brawerman East, her previous school, about the food drive. She made the kids there aware of the problems that are happening in our city, and why we were doing a food drive to help solve the problem of food insecurity. This made children more aware of this problem, and it allows them to be exposed to ways that they can help reduce a horrible problem.
By the end of the food drive, we got 30 total cans, 13 of which contained beans, 15 of which were soups, three pineapple cans, one artichoke can, and one olive can. We also received five tuna bags, two sardine packages, five pasta bags, and one vitamin bag containing 120 packets of vitamins. We gave all of this to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The information that we gathered from this food drive is shown below. |
GoFundFood Campaign
We started our food drive on February 19, and ended it on March 15. We decided to do this because we found that even though food drives make people more aware of food insecurity, money gives more meals to people in need. In fact, one dollar can give four meals at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
Our GoFundFood campaign was a success. We raised $370 within the first four days, and in total, we reached $100 more than our goal. We had 16 total donors, most of which consisted of family and friends of Charlotte, Talia, and Naomi. This amount of money gave 4,400 meals to people in need. The information that we have gathered has been placed below.
