The problem of our focus is food insecurity. Food insecurity is when people do not have a consistent and/or reliable source of food, meaning that people who are food insecure have to constantly think about how to put food on the table each day. A majority of the people with food insecurity cannot afford to buy food because they must pay for things like rent and other utilities, so that they do not have to worry about even more than they already are, like homelessness. Our specific community of focus is the city of Los Angeles, where there are almost 45,000 homeless residents and about two million people who are food insecure. As people who are lucky enough to have access to food every single day, we need to help the people who do not, because it is our job to help and improve our city. We have collected and conducted research about food insecurity (shown below), that led us to diving deeper into this problem.
